Weekend Overview
God Loves You  Y   Love One Another
This overview is designed for the person unfamiliar with Lutheran Lay Renewal (LLR) and will provide a basic introduction to the
Lay Renewal Weekend

WHAT IS LUTHERAN LAY RENEWAL (LLR)

Our program is “prayer centered” and designed to nurture the sense of community within each congregation.  The Lay Renewal Team will arrive at your church on Friday afternoon and will return home Sunday afternoon,  what happens in-between is entirely up to the Holy Spirit working through the team and the members of your congregation.

Through sharing of own experiences, the renewal teams will work to help congregational members develop, and deepen a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and encourages them to commit themselves to service through the use of their God given talents.  Every weekend is different, and every weekend is special.

Basically we are just ordinary men and women who have encountered Christ in our lives and we want to share that joy with others.  Our motto at LLR is simply this;  “God Loves You, Love One Another”.

WHO IS THE LLR PROGRAM INTENDED FOR

The LLR Weekend is for any Lutheran Church, large or small, who is interested in having its membership renew their commitment to Christ, deepen their fellowship within the congregation, and experience a genuine awakening of their call to discipleship.

WHAT PREPARATION IS NEEDED FOR A WEEKEND

Each weekend is preceded by prayer, planning and coordination by the congregational leadership.  Each step of the way  has been outlined and will be explained to the leadership teams by the LLR Weekend Coordinator.  The Coordinator will also work closely with your committee chairs to ensure that every detail has been addressed and to provide them with assurance and support in the performance of their tasks.

WHAT HAPPENENS DURING THE WEEKEND

LLR follows a proven format that is tailored to meet the unique needs of your congregation.  Lay people will share their personal experiences of trying to live the Christian life in today’s world.  Their stories tell of joy and hope, as well as the struggles, tragedies and heartaches they have encountered alone the way.  Our teams are there to share the love of Christ and will not ask anyone to do something they do not feel comfortable doing.  During all aspects of the weekend the focus will always remain on personal commitment or re-commitment to living a renewed life in the shadow of the cross.

WHAT DOES IT COST

The registration fee for each Lay Renewal Weekend is on a sliding scale based on the size and resources of your congregation.  The exact amount will be arrived at during the initial meetings with the Weekend Coordinator.  Once agreed to, the registration fee will be submitted along with the application the LLR Northern California District  Office.  All of the travel costs for the team members is at their own expense and is not the responsibility of the congregation.
